Mission

Indiax Mission & Editorial Philosophy

Indiax.org was started in Jan 2009 with a simple but powerful idea:
to build a platform where thoughtful analysis about India can exist without the pressures that shape most modern media.

Three principles guide everything we publish.

1. Analysis First

Indiax will focus on understanding events, not merely reporting them.

Many news platforms today concentrate on answering the basic questions:

  • What happened

  • When it happened

  • Who was involved

These are important questions, but they are only the beginning.

Indiax will go deeper and ask:

  • Why did this happen?

  • What larger forces are shaping this event?

  • What does this mean for India’s future?

This analytical approach reflects the intellectual background of the Editorial Team.

Maya Batra’s academic journey — from Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College to Oxford University — trained her to examine social and economic issues from multiple perspectives.  At the same time, growing up as a girl in India provides her a deeply grounded understanding of everyday realities that many policy debates often overlook. Living and working between India and the UK also brings an international perspective, allowing India’s development to be viewed within a global context. This combination of ground reality and global analysis will shape the voice of Indiax.

2. Integrity Always

Indiax does not exist to push a political agenda, corporate interest, or ideological campaign. The goal is far simpler:

To share useful information and thoughtful analysis that helps people make better decisions.

This includes writing about:

  • Education opportunities

  • Jobs and career growth

  • Economic trends

  • Investment opportunities

  • Social change

  • Technology and innovation

  • Urban and regional development

The purpose is to help readers better understand the world around them — and perhaps identify new possibilities in their own lives.

Integrity means:

  • Being fair even when discussing difficult issues

  • Avoiding sensationalism

  • Respecting facts and evidence

  • Maintaining intellectual honesty

In an age where information spreads instantly but understanding often does not, integrity becomes even more important.

3. Commercialization (Later or Never)

Most digital media platforms face intense pressure to generate revenue quickly. Advertising models, algorithm-driven traffic, and investor expectations often shape editorial choices.

Indiax has the rare advantage of not facing those pressures. The platform has been supported by its Founder and Chief Editor (Shankar AVSB) for last 17 years since Jan 2009, and that support will continue for the next 20+ years.

This financial independence is extremely valuable, and it allows the Indiax Editorial Team to focus on what truly matters:

Building a long-term intellectual platform about India.

Our goal is not to chase viral headlines.  Our goal is to build something that becomes valuable over time — a platform where readers return because they trust the quality of thought.

A Platform for India’s Future

India is entering one of the most important phases of its history. In the coming decades, the country will likely become one of the three largest economic powers in the world.

But economic growth alone does not define a nation’s progress.

Understanding how that growth affects: cities, towns, villages, youth, women, rural boys and girls,  urban population, migrant workers, and entrepreneurs – will be essential.

Indiax aims to document and analyze this transformation. Not just through headlines, but through thoughtful stories from across the country’s districts, cities, and communities.
