NEW DELHI: Addressing Indian on the eighth edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, PM Manmohan Singh told that he understands the Indians abroad wish for the good being of India, their desire to exercise their franchise and have a say in who governs India. He also pointed that they find the slow progress in many matters to be frustrating. Thus the government is thinking of giving more rights to NRIs, especially for casting their votes.

Our View: Our PM is thinking of giving them the right to cast their vote but let us all be clear that rights should always come with responsibility. In his speech he had mentioned that he also wants allowing NRIs to join politics and contest elections. If this happens, would NRIs also feel the need to join the politics or come back to India to join politics or help the country to grow?
