Taliban Options: Infiltrate into India or Get into Jail

The ‘friendly and peace-loving’ Pakistan government has adopted a new strategy to dealwith Taliban by giving them an option to either become part of Jihad against India, or decay in a local jail. There are already 60 surrendered Jihadis who are are to infiltrate into India from POK/LOC. By doing this it is trying to turn situation into its advantage, without having to fight against them. There are clear signals of increase in infiltration in coming 15-20 days, that is when winter will also begin to set in. There are nearly 250-300 Jihadis armed with sophisticated weapons waiting to cross the LOC. Continue reading Taliban Options: Infiltrate into India or Get into Jail

Maoists Attack Bihar: 16 killed including 5 children

16 people, including 11 men and  5 children have been killed by Maoist leader in Amosi Bharen Diara village of Bihar. Dispute over 30 bighas of land is said to be the reason behind the attacks. The attack was carried out with an intention of grabbing the land. This is the first case during the NDA regime led by CM Nitish Kumar.

PM earlier this month had agreed that the government had not yet achieved much success in containing the left extremism. Note that last year alone there were a 1,591 incidents of Maoist violence resulting in 721 killings; this year until August there had been 1,405 incidents, resulting in 580 deaths spread over 11 states as told by the home minister P. Chidambaram. Thus it still remains a great internal security threat to our country.

Our View: Governments might be taking steps to address the problem but the maoists continue to haunt the nation. The alarming thing being that many sections including youth and intelligentsia are joining the movements. The problem has to be checked and contained; devised strategies have to look into many aspects like security management, economic stability and source of funds (to the movement).

Jaipur Bomb Blasts and Lessons

Rajasthan was all over news in India in May 2008 for multiple reasons – the Rajasthan Royals were rocking the IPL and coward terrorists killed about 70 people with their bombs. Everybody has spoken about the IPL, so lets leave that aside.

Let’s take the difficult question.
How the hell were terrorists able to plan and execute such attacks?
And how come even after 3 weeks, we have little headway in the case?
Even the redrawn photos have not come.

We are getting rich, but we remain stupid.
One of the most essential things needed in any populated area is this: CCTV or IP video cameras — which are continuously recording the events, so that footage can be reviewed later. Go to any large city in Europe/ America, and its full of cameras…these are essential investments for public safety — and we have not done that. In fact, the London terrorists were caught due to CCTV footage.

The Rajasthan State Govt said it will invest in improved security – but we will see when it happens.
For now, be alert in public places in India. You have to watch your own back.
