Glenmark Pharmaceuticals stock has hit a lifetime high of Rs 749 after a wholly owned subsidiary announced the discovery and initiation of IND enabling studies of a novel clinical development candidate, GBR 1302. The stock hit record high of Rs 749 in intraday trade. The announcement was made before market hours today, 20 August 2014. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals S.A. (GPSA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (GPL), announced the discovery and initiation of IND enabling studies of a novel clinical development candidate, GBR 1302, a HER2xCD3 bispecific antibody. GBR 1302 was discovered and developed by the Glenmark Biologics Research Centre located in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. GBR 1302 is based on Glenmark`s innovative BEAT antibody technology platform which facilitates the efficient development and manufacture of antibodies with dual specificities, so-called bispecific antibodies. GBR 1302 is the first clinical development candidate based on the BEAT technology. Glenmark expects to obtain approval for the initiation of clinical studies during this financial year.

As India’s middle class has expanded, the nation’s public health concerns have shifted. Obesity rates have risen, coinciding with a surge in diabetes. The number of Indians with type 2 diabetes is expected to double to nearly 80 million by 2030. Meanwhile, 43 percent of children in India are underweight, according to the World Bank.
A chronic condition, type 2 diabetes is characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood. People with type 2 diabetes are at much greater risk of health complications, including problems with the eyes, kidneys and cardiovascular system. The American Heart Association estimates that nearly 75 percent of type 2 diabetics die from some form of heart or blood vessel disease. And the risk of stroke increases more than two-fold within the first five years of being treated for type 2 diabetes.

Now a Study to Map Depression in Mumbai Campuses
As per a study one in every 4 suffers from some degree of depression in Mumbai Campuses. Fourteen in every 100 have thought about suicide sometime or the other. The current system creates a lot of pressure even for small kids; children as young as five and six testing clinically depressed. Indo-US researchers who had carried out the first study on the same topic are planning to do it the 2nd time. They would carry out their research in Mumbai and Boston from January ’10 to April ’10.

Reliance Life Insurance to open 300 branches, hire 6000 people
Jaipur: Reliance Life Insurance Co Ltd. a unit of Anil Ambani’s Reliance Capital is planning to expand in tier II and Tier III. This will create around 6000 jobs and open around 300 branches. It is also planning to do tie-ups with banks to sell its products through bancassurance.
