Need To Liberate Indian Sciences from Red Tape and Political Interference

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, 3 Jan 2010: While inaugurating the 97th Indian Science Congress (ISC 2010), Prime Minister admitted that the Indian Science is gripped under shackles of red tape, in house favoritism and political interference. He said more than the funds it is needed that we attract brains of Indian origin to comeback to India and work here at least for short Period.

Our View: Indian Education/research has been grappled with the same situation and needs eradication of such mindset or people with such mindsets to liberate Indian Science. Corruption is pervasive in the Indian society, wherein money can buy favours at every level, including research scholarships, grants, medals, PhDs — the list goes on. IIT Faculty Shortage: 1 in 3 professor posts vacant

Centrally funded technical institutions (or the CFTIs) are currently short of more than 3000 faculty members, which is about 1/3rd their total strength. CFTIs include the IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore, ISM Dhanbad, NITs a total of 9 such institutions. Online CAT puts IIM reputation ‘on the line’

There are reports that the exam system was not behaving in the same way at all centers and passwords were not working, putting lots of candidates into distress. Looks like a super way to stress test the candidates, ie, if you could complete the exam in the first place, you are already interview material!
Jokes aside, more rigorous testing should have been done, and fewer but stronger centers could have been opted for this initial online exam. Hindsight 20/20. Problems will happen in every large scale execution, but online tests are really the way to go with improvements. IIMB ranked as Top b-school in India by Eduniversal Palmes

IIM-B has ranked as No. 1 Business School in India according to the ranking given by Eduniversal Palmes. IIMB has managed to get ‘5 Palmes’ the highest recognition under the evaluation. This award also brings IIM-B among the top 100 B-Schools. IIM Bangalore was voted as the top B-School by 395 Deans from a group of 1000 deans, while IIM Ahmedabad got 345 votes.
